The University of Regina's women's volleyball team was bested in three sets on Saturday night by the Winnipeg Wesmen at the Duckworth Centre.
The Wesmen won by scores of 25-12, 25-20, and 25-18 to salvage a weekend split with the Cougars, who had come up with a three-set win of their own on Friday.
Saturday's match saw Emma Parker lead the way with 11 kills for Winnipeg while also collecting 12 digs. Parker hit .214 in the win, while Kalena Schulz added eight kills while hitting at a .389 clip. Ashleigh Laube hit double digits with 10 kills, while Rylie Dickson finished with 33 assists and Madison Fyvie had a team-leading 13 kills to help Winnipeg improve to 5-7 on the season.
Britt Davis had a team-high eight kills for the Cougars to go along with 13 digs, while
Sierra Parris-Kruger led all players with 15 digs and will go into the December break ranked second in Canada West with an average of 4.32 digs per set.
The Cougars will return to action at the New Year's Classic non-conference tournament in Edmonton from Dec. 27 through Dec. 29. Canada West play resumes shortly after the calendar flips to 2020, as the Cougars will host Trinity Western on Jan. 3 and Jan. 4 at the Centre for Kinesiology, Health & Sport.
