Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

UBC wins in three over Cougars

The Regina Cougars were defeated 3-0 by the UBC Thunderbirds on Saturday night in Canada West women's volleyball action at the War Memorial Gym in Vancouver.

UBC won the three sets by scores of 25-16, 25-17, and 25-13 to improve to 10-10 on the season.

Gabrielle Attieh led all players with 11 kills but the real damage was done from the service line, where she piled up 11 aces - the second most in a Canada West match since the conference began tracking single-game records in 1999. Attieh also tied Anna Price and Laura Worsley for the team lead with seven digs, while Tessa Davis chipped in with six kills and Olivia Furlan finished with 18 assists and six digs.

Emma Matheson led Regina (2-18) with nine kills, while libero Sierra Parris-Kruger led all players with 12 digs.

The Cougars have just two weekends remaining this year, including their final home matches of the season next Friday and Saturday against Mount Royal. They'll finish off the campaign on Feb. 14 and Feb. 15 with two road matches against the Alberta Pandas.
