The University of Winnipeg Wesmen opened up the second half of the Canada West women's volleyball schedule with a three-set road win over the Regina Cougars on Friday night at the Centre for Kinesiology, Health & Sport.

Winnipeg opened up the match with a 25-16 win in the first set, then won 25-20 in the second and used a surge after the technical timeout in the third to clinch the match with a 25-22 win in the final set.

Ashleigh Laube and Emma Parker both led Winnipeg offensively with 10 kills. Laube added 11 digs for the Wesmen, matching setter Portia Switzer for the team high in that category. Switzer also had 24 assists for the Wesmen (3-4), while Kely Warmington led all players with seven blocks.

Jessica Lerminiaux had a match-high 12 kills for the Cougars, while Sierra Parris-Kruger collected a match-leading 16 digs.

The Cougars (2-5) and the Wesmen will meet again on Saturday night at the CKHS. First serve is set for 6:00.
