The University of Regina's women's basketball team was impressive from start to finish in a convincing 91-45 win over the Manitoba Bisons on Friday night in a Canada West game at the Centre for Kinesiology, Health & Sport.
Faith Reid finished 7-for-11 from long range, tying Katie Polischuk's school record for three-pointers made in a single Canada West game. Reid ended up with a game-high 27 points in the win.
As a team, the Cougars drilled 13 triples and shot 37% from beyond the arc to improve to 5-6 on the season.
Jade Belmore also had a standout performance for Regina, piling up 23 points and adding a career-high 14 rebounds to notch her fourth double-double of the Canada West schedule.
Madeleine Tell and
Julia Vydrova both chipped in with eight points for the Cougars.
Emerson Martin and Taylor Randall led Manitoba (2-9) with eight points apiece while Autumn Agar pulled down a team-leading nine rebounds.
The two teams will meet again on Saturday night at the CKHS. Game time is again set for 6:00 PM with limited tickets still available at reginacougars.com/tickets.
NOTES: Up until Friday's game, Polischuk was the only player in U of R history to have made seven triples in one Canada West game, a feat she accomplished twice in her career ... Reid had hit six three-pointers on five previous occasions in her career – including twice this season – before breaking out for seven tonight.
