• The University of Regina's men's hockey team was defeated 7-3 by the Alberta Golden Bears on Friday night at The Co-operators Centre.

• Alberta got an early goal from Jayden Platz, but Tyler Heidt answered for the Cougars on the power play with a shot from the top of the left circle.
• Eric Florchuk's fine individual effort gave the Golden Bears a 2-1 lead through 20 minutes.
• Nolan Volcan and Josh Prokop both scored for Alberta to put the visitors up 4-1 five minutes into the middle frame.
• Riley Krane scored another power play marker for the Cougars to get them to within two, but that was as close as they'd get.
• Prokop scored again late in the second to put Alberta up 5-2 at the second intermission, and the Golden Bears added goals from Jakin Smallwood and Bruce MacGregor in the third.
• Carson Sass scored his first Canada West goal late in the third, giving the U of R its third goal of the game.

• Tyler Adams and Jackson Doucet both had two assists in Friday's game for the Cougars.

• The Cougars will play Alberta again on Saturday afternoon at The Co-operators Centre. Game time is set for 3:00 PM.
