Manitoba tops Cougars in weekend opener at CKHS

QUICKLY
  • The University of Regina's men's basketball team suffered an 85-76 home loss to the Manitoba Bisons on Friday night at the Centre for Kinesiology, Health & Sport.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Manitoba went on a 10-2 run leading into halftime, turning what had been a one-point game into a 41-32 advantage at the break.
  • The Cougars got to within four at one point in the third quarter after a Jalen Edwards bucket, but Manitoba answered immediately with six straight points and led by at least eight the rest of the way.

NOTES
  • Elijah Lostracco had a game-high 21 points for the Bisons, who are now a perfect 5-0 through their first five conference games.
  • Carter Millar and Majok Madol both had double-doubles for the Cougars. Millar had 18 points and 12 rebounds, while Madol finished with 12 and 10. Edwards had 13 points off the bench for the U of R.

  • The two teams will renew acquaintances on Saturday night at the CKHS. Game time is again set for 8:00 PM.
