Game Recap: Women's Hockey |

Fiske, Scraba score but Cougars edged 3-2 by TWU

QUICKLY
  • The University of Regina's women's hockey team lost by a 3-2 score to Trinity Western on Saturday night.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • After a scoreless opening period, the teams combined for four of the game's five goals in the second.
  • TWU opened the scoring with a Neisha Germann goal 2:23 in, then Amy Potomak gave the Spartans a 2-0 lead just before the midway mark of the middle frame.
  • Heather Fiske then got the Cougars on the board on the power play after her initial shot from the slot was saved, but she scored off her own rebound for her third of the season.
  • Shaylee Scraba tied up the game just over two minutes after Fiske's goal, scoring off her own rebound to notch her first goal of the year.
  • TWU's Potomak scored the game-winning goal midway through the third. The Cougars pulled their goalie with over three minutes remaining to push for the equalizer, but weren't able to break through.

NOTES
  • Fiske and Scraba both assisted on each other's goals, giving Scraba her first multi-point night with the Cougars.
  • It was Fiske's second multiple-point outing with the U of R. She also had two points in a 3-2 win over Manitoba on Feb. 5, 2022.
  • Regina goalie Arden Kliewer stopped 22 of Trinity Western's 25 shots.

NEXT UP
  • The Cougars will close out their lengthy West Coast road swing with two games at UBC next weekend. They'll face the Thunderbirds on Friday night (7:00 PT) and Saturday afternoon (3:00 PT) before finally returning to Regina.
