• The University of Regina's men's basketball team opened up Canada West play with a 90-83 victory on the road over Brandon on Friday night.

• The Cougars trailed 19-16 after the opening period, but went on a 20-5 run in the second quarter to help them build up a 45-37 lead at the half
• Regina continued that momentum in the third quarter, outscoring the Bobcats 25-16 in the period.
• The Cougars led by as many as 22 points following a Matt Barnard dunk with eight minutes to go. Brandon went on a 17-2 run to draw closer, but were never able to get the Regina lead down to fewer than seven.

• Carter Millar tied for the game high with 22 points.
• Brayden Kuski hit four triples and finished with 18 points to go along with seven rebounds.
• Nick Barnard (13), Matt Barnard (11), and Majok Madol (10) also scored in double-digit points in the win.
• Matt Barnard added 10 rebounds to register the game's lone double-double.

• The Cougars will play the Bobcats again on Saturday night in Brandon. Game time is set for 7:00 CT/6:00 SK.
