Wild fourth-quarter run gives Cougars road win over UBC Okanagan

QUICKLY
  • The Regina Cougars trailed by 18 points at one point in the first half, but came all the way back for a crucial 86-81 road victory over UBC Okanagan in a Canada West men's basketball game on Friday night in Kelowna, B.C.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • UBC Okanagan put together 12 straight points in the second quarter which was punctuated by Liban Yousef hitting three-pointers on back-to-back possessions as part of a personal 8-0 run. That run turned what had been a six-point advantage for the Heat into 42-24, their largest lead of the game.
  • The Cougars brought the UBC Okanagan lead down to 10 at halftime, then made their push in the third quarter. Carter Millar hit two triples and Brayden Kuski and Nigel Warden also hit threes as the Cougars went on a 14-2 run that gave them their first lead since early in the first quarter.
  • UBC Okanagan took the lead back almost immediately, but the Cougars turned the tide in the fourth quarter with a massive game-changing run. Over a stretch of five and a half minutes, Regina reeled off a 21-1 run to leave the Heat behind.
