Cougars use big second half to pull away from UBC Okanagan

QUICKLY
  • The No. 1-ranked Regina Cougars won their seventh consecutive Canada West game on Friday with a 95-54 road victory over UBC Okanagan in Kelowna, B.C.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Cougars held a comfortable 51-37 lead at halftime before simply exploding in the second half.
  • Five different U of R players scored during a 13-0 run in the third quarter that swelled a 14-point Cougar lead into a 27-point advantage.
  • Those 13 consecutive points were part of a 25-2 run for the Cougars that stretched well into the fourth quarter.
  • The Cougars ended up outscoring UBC Okanagan 44-17 in the second half.

NOTES
  • Cara Misskey piled up 28 points for the Cougars while also tying Jade Belmore for the game high with six assists.
  • Belmore also had 17 points and seven rebounds while Zoe Hartmann scored 14 points and Dayna Pearce had 11.
  • Kelsey Falk led UBC Okanagan with 14 points.
