UBC pulls away in fourth for Friday win over Cougars

QUICKLY
  • The University of Regina's men's basketball team suffered an 83-68 loss to UBC on Friday night in Vancouver.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Cougars had a slow start with UBC scoring each of the game's first nine points as part of a 14-1 run, but the U of R responded with an 18-2 run late in the first and early in the second that put them into the lead.
  • Regina had a five-point advantage at one point in the second quarter, but UBC rallied and the Thunderbirds led 44-43 at the break.
  • After a tight third quarter, UBC pulled away in the fourth. Brayden Kuski hit a three-pointer to open the quarter that got the Cougars to within two, but UBC's 15-2 run that followed sealed the victory for the home side.

NOTES
  • Carter Millar had 14 points and 17 rebounds for the Cougars, while Kuski and Jalen Edwards both scored 13.
  • Triston Matthews, Brian Wallack, and James Woods all scored 18 points for UBC.
  • The Cougars see their Canada West record fall to 5-8 with the loss.
