• The No. 2-ranked University of Regina's women's basketball team held on for a 72-65 win over Lethbridge on Friday night at the Centre for Kinesiology, Health & Sport.

• The Cougars opened up a 12-point lead in the second quarter, but Lethbridge closed the half on a 13-2 run to cut Regina's lead to 37-36 at the break.
• Lethbridge continued to give the Cougars trouble in the third quarter, and Tobore Okome's three-point play tied the game at 50-50 heading into the fourth.
• Another three-point play by Okome tied it up at 53-53 early in the fourth, but Zoe Hartmann hit triples on back-to-back possessions to give the Cougars the lead for good. Lethbridge made it a four-point game with three minutes to go, but that turned out to be the last field goal of the game for either team. Dayna Pearce hit a pair of free throws for the Cougars put them up six, and Jade Belmore's free throw in the final minute made it a three-possession game and all but sealed the win for the U of R.

• Belmore had 17 points and 13 rebounds to notch her seventh double-double of the Canada West schedule.
• Cara Misskey scored 14 points, Pearce finished with 13, and Hartmann had 12. Julia Vydrova led all players with 15 rebounds while chipping in with 8 points.
• The Cougars improve their Canada West record to 13-2 and remain in first place in the conference standings.
• Haily Weaver led Lethbridge (5-10) with 16 points.

• The Cougars and Lethbridge will meet again on Saturday night at the CKHS. Tip-off is set for 6:00.
