QUICKLY

The University of Regina's women's volleyball team was defeated in three straight sets by Thompson Rivers in identical 25-22 scores on Friday night in Kamloops, B.C.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The first set saw TRU open up an 18-12 lead. The Cougars roared back with a 5-0 run with Jordy McEachern on serve, but TRU was able to stay ahead and the WolfPack put away the set with a Kate Lamothe kill.
The Cougars jumped out to a 5-2 lead in the second set and led as late as 17-16, but TRU collected four straight points late in the set to pull away for good.
Regina also held an early lead in the third, going up 7-3 before five consecutive points put Thompson Rivers back in front. Another late 4-0 run was key for TRU, as the WolfPack turned a 17-17 tie into a commanding 21-17 lead and the home side held off a late Cougar challenge to clinch the match.

NOTES

McEachern finished as Regina's top hitter, matching her career high with 10 kills while also adding 8 digs.
Libero McKenzie Keibel had a team-leading 11 digs for the Cougars.
