Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Career night for Collier lifts Cougars to road win over TRU

QUICKLY
The University of Regina's men's basketball team stayed undefeated in Canada West play on Friday night with a 66-59 road victory over Thompson Rivers in Kamloops, B.C.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The two teams played a close game in the opening two quarters as neither squad led by more than four at any point in the first half.
  • Thompson Rivers threw the first real punch to start the third quarter. Three-pointers by Daniel Bost started - and ended - a 14-2 run over four minutes that put the WolfPack up by 14.
  • But the Cougars replied immediately with 10 straight points of their own. Hayden Collier hit three-pointers on consecutive possessions, then Asher Ndah connected from distance on the next trip down the floor to get the Cougars to within four.
  • In the fourth quarter, Matt Barnard hit a three-pointer to break a 54-54 tie four minutes into the period and the Cougars led the rest of the way. They won the game on the defensive end of the floor, surrendering just a single TRU field goal in the final four minutes.

NOTES
  • Collier had his best game as a Cougar, collecting his first Canada West double-double while registering career highs in both points (19) and rebounds (12).
  • Arinze Emeka-Anyakwo scored 18 points and added 7 rebounds.
  • Matt Barnard matched Collier with a 12-rebound performance.
  • Jason Okoro led Thompson Rivers with 15 points.
