Game Recap: Men's Hockey |

Alberta takes 7-2 Friday win over Cougars

QUICKLY
The University of Regina's men's hockey team suffered a 7-2 road loss to Alberta on Friday night.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Josh Prokop, Daneel Lategan, and Justin Hall all scored for Alberta in the first period. Prokop's goal came with Alberta on the power play and while Hall's officially goes into the books as an even-strength marker it was scored just as Regina's Eric Houk was coming out of the box from a holding minor.
  • Alberta's Alex Thacker had the lone goal of the second, giving the Golden Bears a 4-0 advantage through 40 minutes.
  • Houk got the Cougars on the board with a power play goal early in the third period after pouncing on a rebound following a Jakob Brook shot, but his goal was quickly answered by the Golden Bears' Eric Florchuk which restored the four-goal lead exactly a minute later.
  • Jackson Doucet got his second of the year soon after Florchuk's goal on a nifty play that saw him chip the puck over an Alberta defender's stick and snap it home from the slot, but that was as close as the Cougars would come. Josh Paterson and Adam Hall finished off the scoring with late goals for Alberta.
