Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

Cougars fall in three sets to MacEwan

QUICKLY
The University of Regina's women's volleyball team was topped in straight sets by MacEwan on Friday night in Edmonton.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The seesaw first set saw some wild runs, first by MacEwan as they scored six straight early points as part of an 8-1 push that put them up 10-3 in the early going. The Cougars answered that by reeling off 12 consecutive points with Dryden Gris on serve, giving Regina a 15-10 lead in the opening set. But MacEwan took control with a 10-2 run and maintained at least a two-point advantage from there as the Griffins took the opening set 25-21.
  • The second and third sets were all MacEwan. The Griffins won 25-12 and 25-13 to clinch their sixth Canada West victory of the season.

NOTES
  • Bailey Balaberda collected eight kills and seven digs for the Cougars while Jordy McEachern had five kills and a team-leading nine digs.
  • MacEwan's Mariah Bereziuk had 13 kills, 8 digs, and hit .370 in the win.

NEXT UP
The two squads will meet again on Saturday afternoon in Edmonton. First serve is set for 3:00 PM (MST) at the David Atkinson Gym.
