QUICKLY
The University of Regina's women's soccer team conceded a goal in second-half injury time and lost 3-2 to Fraser Valley on Sunday morning in Abbotsford, B.C.
HOW IT HAPPENED
After a scoreless opening half, the Cougars opened the scoring when
Jessica Chow unleashed a left-footed cannon in the 49th minute from over 30 yards out which grazed the bottom of the crossbar and went in for the third-year midfielder's first career Canada West goal.
Fraser Valley's Kiana Langston tied it up in the 60th minute, but the Cougars responded just five minutes later.
Delaney Rhinehart connected on a give-and-go with
Kirsten Koellmel, then sent a high ball into the box which
Allyson Schneider headed just over the UFV keeper and off the left post and in.
But the Cougars weren't able to hang on to their lead. Madison Telmer tied it up at 2-2 in the 76th minute, then struck again four minutes into injury time with a header off a corner that served as the game-winning goal.
NOTES
The loss moves the Cougars' Canada West record to 1-3-4. They remain in possession of the Prairie Division's fifth and final playoff spot, one point up on sixth-place Manitoba.
NEXT UP
The Cougars will now have three consecutive home matches beginning next weekend against Calgary on Saturday and against Lethbridge on Sunday.
