Lodie Kenyi scored a career-high 28 points as the University of Regina's men's basketball team won by an 84-64 score over UNBC on Friday night at the Centre for Kinesiology, Health & Sport on the U of R campus.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The game was tight through three quarters and a one-possession score as late as with two minutes to go in the third, but the Cougars simply took over in the final period.
- The Cougars went on a 14-4 run to turn what had been a five-point lead early in the fourth into a 74-59 advantage. That run featured three-pointers by three different players as Zachary Hillis, Cade Mather, and Jamie White all hit shots from the perimeter.
- UNBC scored the next five points, but it was all Regina from there as the Cougars went on an 8-0 run to seal the win.
NOTES
- Kenyi's 28-point effort saw him go 10-for-15 from the field including 3-for-4 from three-point range. His previous career high was 27 points, set last January in an overtime win over Mount Royal.
- Jordan Persad scored 15 points in just 18 minutes off the bench for the Cougars while also collecting 4 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 steals.
- Kamba also scored in double figures, finishing with 12 points to go along with 6 rebounds.
- Isaac Kiona appeared in his first Canada West game, playing the final two minutes for the Cougars.
- The Cougars improve to 2-3 on the season with the win. They're now in sixth place in Canada West's 10-team Prairie Division.
