QUICKLY
The University of Regina's women's hockey team was defeated 5-0 by Trinity Western on Saturday afternoon at the Langley Events Centre in Langley, B.C.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Michela Naccarato opened the scoring just three minutes in for TWU. Katherine Chadwick's shot from the slot was saved by Regina starter Natalie Williamson, but Naccarato was there at the side of the net to score on the rebound.
- The Spartans increased their lead with two second-period Kara Yackel goals. Brooklyn Anderson made a nice play to get around a Regina defender before slipping a pass across to Yackel to make it 2-0 TWU, and Yackel scored again late in the frame after jumping on a rebound following an Anderson shot.
- TWU added two insurance markers in the third as Kyra McDonald and Naccarato both scored.
NOTES
- Mabel Maltais stopped all 26 Regina shots to secure the shutout for TWU.
- Williamson saved 41 of TWU's 46 shots.
- Both teams finished 0-for-4 on the power play.
