QUICKLY
The University of Regina's women's soccer team surrendered three first-half goals and dropped a 3-0 decision to MacEwan on Sunday afternoon at the U of R Field.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- MacEwan opened the scoring with back-to-back goals in the 19th and 20th minutes. Brynn Hobal got MacEwan on the board after dribbling right into the 6-yard box from the right, then tucking a shot just inside the near post for the second-year midfielder's first Canada West goal. Hannah Harper extended the lead seconds after Hobal's goal after breaking down the U of R defence from the right and then firing a nice left-footed shot that glanced off the cross bar and in.
- Grace Schimpf put MacEwan up by three in the 42nd minute off a set piece. Harper had a free kick from just inside 25 yards out but sent a pass over to Schimpf, who then one-touched it inside the far post.
- After not registering a shot on goal in the first half, the Cougars put eight on net in the second half but MacEwan keeper Elizabeth Knight was up to the challenge and stopped all eight to record the shutout.
