Women's Volleyball: 1-3 loss vs Thompson Rivers

Women's Volleyball
The Cougars women's volleyball team hosted Thompson Rivers over the weekend.
 
On Friday, Thompson Rivers won the first two sets, but the Cougars were able to win the third, but ultimately lost 3-1.
 
Anna Schultz led all players with 13 kills, and Cassadi Klapak led the game in aces (3) and digs (15).
 
On Saturday, the Cougars lost 3-0, but we're only outscored by 10 points.
 
Piper Harkness had 4 blocks and is now up to 23 total on the year.
 
Next up, the Cougars head to Winnipeg to take on the Manitoba Bisons.
 
Women's Hockey
The Cougars women's hockey team hosted Mount Royal on Friday and Saturday.
 
On Friday, the Cougars got down 2-0 after the 1st period and ultimately lost 3-1.
 
Kaitlyn Gilroy was the lone goal-scorer for the Cougars, scoring her third of the season in the 3rd period.
 
On Saturday, the Cougars lost 4-0.
 
The Cougars had 19 shots in the game, and Natalie Williamson had 21 saves in net.
 
The Cougars have next this weekend off before heading to Manitoba to take on the Bisons on Nov. 28th and 29th.
 
Women's Basketball
The Cougars women's basketball team was in Victoria over the Weekend to take on the Vikes.
 
Friday's game was back and forth, and remained close throughout, but the Cougars held on the win 63-54. Jade Belmore (13), Rachel Vanderhooft (12), Cara Misskey (10) and Eden Wells (10) all had double digit point for the Cougars. Lilly Vande Graaf led the Cougars with 7 rebounds.
 
On Saturday, the Cougars jumped out to a seven-point lead after the 1st quarter, and the two teams went back and forth the whole game, with the Cougars ultimately winning 70-67.
 
Rachel Vanderhooft had a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds. Cara Misskey added 12 points and a game-high 7 assists.
 
With the pair of wins, the Cougars are now 6-0 on the season, and are now ranked in the top ten for the first time this year, coming in at #10 on the latest U SPORTS rankings.
 
Next up, the Cougars head to Brandon to take on the Bobcats on Friday and Saturday.
 
Men's Hockey
The Cougars men's hockey team was in Calgary over the weekend taking on Mount Royal.
 
On Friday, the led 4-2 after the 2nd period, but Mount Royal was able to tie it up and send it to overtime.
 
Carter Belitski was the overtime hero for Regina, scoring the game-winner just over a minute into the extra frame.
 
Jaxon Steele, Leyton Holoien, Paycen Bjorklund, and Ayden Third all also had goals. Eric Houk had 3 assists, and Blake Heward had 2. Damon Cunningham had 27 saves in net.
 
On Saturday, the Cougars lost 3-1. Eric Pearce was the Cougars' lone goal-scorer.
 
Damon Cunningham got the start once again and had 32 saves.
 
The Cougars have next this weekend off before hosting the Manitoba Bisons on Nov. 28th and 29th.
 
Men's Basketball
The Cougars men's basketball team was in Victoria taking on the #2 ranked Victoria Vikes.
 
Friday's game was all Victorian from the start, and Vikes won 101-53.
 
Lodie Kenyi and Sufyan Elkannan led the Cougrs with 16 points each. Cade Mather had a game-high 5 steals.
 
On Saturday, it was the Cougars turn to come out hot, as they scored 30 points in the 1st quarter, and led 55-33 at halftime. Victoria battled back in the 2nd half, but were unable to do enough, and the Cougars escaped with a 81-76 win.
 
Ben Kamba led all scorers with 31 points on an efficient 12-16 shooting. Lodie Kenyi added 19 points, while Kaz Dornstauder had a 10-point, 13-rebound double-double in the win.
 
The Cougars will head to Brandon next to take on the Bobcats on Friday and Saturday.
