The University of Regina's swimming teams finished off the 2025-26 season at the ManSask Winter Provincial Championships, a short-course meet hosted at the Pan Am Pool in Winnipeg.
Mekayla Erpelo and
Kelsey Jones led the way for the Cougars. Erpelo collected three personal-best times, including in the 200-metre individual medley (2:26.31) where she placed third and chopped well over a second off her previous best time of 2:27.74 set earlier this year at the University Cup Pacific. Erpelo also had new PBs in both the 200-metre backstroke (2:22.18) and the 50-metre butterfly (30.07).
Jones also had an impressive PB in the 200 IM, finishing second in the final with a time of 2:25.14. Her time was nearly nine seconds faster than her previous best of 2:33.89, set just last March at the Winter Provincial Trials in Calgary.
Kally Kennedy also had a personal best for the women's team, finishing the 50-metre freestyle in 26.98 seconds.
Dylan DeRose and
Reese Nelson both competed on the men's side for the Cougars. Nelson collected personal-best times in the 100-metre butterfly (1:00.22), 200-metre freestyle (2:05.43), and the 50-metre breaststroke (32.08) while DeRose had PBs in the 100 fly (1:00.37), 50-metre freestyle (25.55), and 100-metre backstroke (1:05.63).
