Five Rams invited to 2026 East-West Bowl

Polischuk, Tkachuk, Wong, Templeton, Swystun-Bernes will suit up for Team West, Stroeder to coach defensive line

Five Regina Rams have been invited to participate in the 2026 East-West Bowl which will be hosted by the University of Waterloo on Saturday, May 9.

Lineman Will Templeton will be the lone representive for the Rams on the offensive side of the ball. In 2025, he started all eight Canada West games and both playoff games at right guard and was named a Canada West All-Star.

On the defensive side, four players will represent the Rams.

Max Polischuk started every game at boundary corner in 2025 and was third on the Rams with 23 regular season solo tackles. He was named a Canada West All-Star and a second-team U SPORTS All-Canadian.

Jacob Tkachuk also earned Canada West All-Star recognition after starting at boundary halfback all season. The third-year defensive back led the Rams with 25 regular season solo tackles and had five pass breakups across the regular season and the playoffs.

Brandon Wong led the Rams with 34 regular season total tackles after starting all year at sam linebacker. He was named a Canada West All-Star for the second consecutive season and also earned second-team U SPORTS All-Canadian recognition.

Toryn Swystun-Bernes started all ten games at nose tackle for the Rams. In the regular season, he recorded 2.5 tackles for loss, including a sack, and was named a Canada West All-Star.

Rams defensive line coach Kyle Stroeder will also make the trip to Waterloo. Stroeder has been coaching the Rams defensive line since the 2018 season. He will work with Team West's defensive line alongside longtime CFL player and Alberta defensive line coach Almondo Sewell.

The East-West Bowl features the top 107 Canadian university football players who are eligible to be selected in the 2027 CFL Draft. At least three players from each of the 27 U SPORTS football programs will attend the game.

The University of Guelph led the way with six players selected. The Rams are one of eight schools that will be sending five players.

Kickoff is set for 12:30 ET on Saturdy, May 9.
