Joel Hunter

  • Title
    Men's Basketball Assistant Coach
Joel Hunter was added to the University of Regina's men's basketball staff as an assistant coach prior to the 2015-16 season.

Hunter had served as a basketball coach at Luther College High School in Regina for nearly a decade, including for five years as the senior boys’ head coach. He also has experience coaching at the provincial level, guiding a Team Saskatchewan 15U team to a strong fourth-place finish at the 2009 Canada Basketball National Championships.

Hunter was one of the most prolific players ever to put on a Cougar uniform. Also fifth in career scoring at the U of R with 1359 points, Hunter was a Canada West first-team all-star in 2006 after averaging over 20 points per game and helping the Cougars to a 16-4 conference record which remains the best mark in school history.
