Toako Imamura, known as Chie, joined the U of R's women's volleyball team as an assistant prior to the 2018-19 season.
Imamura played for the University of Tsukuba (Tsukuba, Japan) between 1990 and 1994. She represented Japan internationally, being named the top setter and helping Japan win gold at the 1990 Junior Women's Asian Championship and again being named top setter at the 1991 Women's U20 World Championship while leading Japan to a bronze.
She came to Canada with Tsukuba to play against CIAU teams in 1991, and in 1994 she returned to Saskatoon to be an assistant coach at the University of Saskatchewan. She's been coaching volleyball at the club, high school, and community levels ever since.
