Nathan Cherwaty joined the University of Regina's women's volleyball team as an assistant coach prior to the 2016-17 season.

Cherwaty was a five-year member of the Cougar men's volleyball team, appearing in 53 Canada West matches over a career that spanned from 2009-10 to 2013-14. He finished with 117 kills, 206 digs, and 42 blocks in 147 career sets played.

He graduated with distinction from the U of R in 2016 with a Bachelor of Science in software systems development.
