No. 7-ranked Cougars take 3-0 victory in Winnipeg

Tammy Jule had 17 kills to lead the Cougars as they scored a straight-sets (25-20, 25-11, 29-27) victory over the Winnipeg Wesmen on Friday night in Winnipeg.

Jule had 17 kills on 40 attacks and a .275 hitting percentage for the Cougars, who hit .283 as a team for the match. Beth Clark also had a strong game for Regina, collecting 12 kills and a .269 hitting percentage. Meagan Smith had six kills and no errors on 11 attacks and led all players by hitting at a .545 clip.

Kelly Cowan had a match-high 14 digs for Regina, while Tiffany Herman dished out 36 assists. Meagan Onstad fell just two kills short of a double-double, ending up with 11 digs and eight kills in the win.

Ariel Smith led the Wesmen (0-1) with 13 digs and 11 kills.

The win improves the No. 7-ranked Cougars to 3-2 on the season.

Regina and Winnipeg will meet again on Saturday night. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. Regina time and will be shown live at www.uwinnipeg.tv.
