The Manitoba Bisons scored two goals in the first half and held off the Regina Cougars in the second to win 2-1 on Sunday afternoon in Canada West women's soccer action at University Stadium.

The No. 6-ranked Bisons (4-0-0) got a goal from Lianna Bestvater in the 15th minute and one from Karli Colpitts in the 44th minute to take a 2-0 lead into halftime. The visiting Cougars answered back midway through the second half after Stacey Wilson got her head on a Tegan Koroluk corner kick in the 65th minute and cut the lead to just one. The Cougars pressed hard for the equalizer, but couldn't beat Manitoba goalkeeper Ashley Forbes.

"We put a lot more pressure on them today than we did yesterday," Cougars head coach Bob Maltman said. "Kristen Padbury had a great game at right back and we can take a lot of positives out of this weekend."

Michelle Anderson had another strong game in net for the Cougars, making 10 saves during the contest. Forbes recorded the win for the Bisons.

The loss drops the Cougars' Canada West record to 0-2-2. Regina's next games will be on Sept. 20 at Alberta and Sept. 21 at Saskatchewan.
