A flurry of goals in the second half gave the University of Alberta Pandas a 7-0 win over the Regina Cougars on Saturday afternoon in Canada West women's soccer action at Foote Field.
Alberta struck first late in the first half, as Sarah Smyth gave the Pandas a 1-0 lead in the 42nd minute. Michelle Mueller extended Alberta's lead to 2-0 with a goal in the 55th minute, and the Pandas scored five goals in the game's final 18 minutes to blow the game wide open.
Jacqueline Smith assisted on five Alberta goals, three of which came directly from corner kicks.
Michelle Anderson started for the Cougars in net and allowed the first two Panda goals.
Linsay Barbier played the final 32 minutes for Regina.
Alberta's Alecia Baldwin made six saves to secure the shutout for Alberta.
The Cougars (0-3-2) will now travel to Saskatoon for a game against Saskatchewan (1-3-1) on Sunday afternoon. The game will be televised on Max Local on Demand and will be available to SaskTel subscribers beginning on Wednesday.
