Cougars fall into tie for division lead after losing to Wesmen

The University of Regina's men's basketball team fell into a tie for the Great Plains Division lead on Friday night after suffering a 77-64 road loss to the Winnipeg Wesmen.

The loss drops the Cougars' record to 9-8 on the season. They are now tied for first place in the division with the Brandon Bobcats, who scored a road victory over the Manitoba Bisons on Friday.

Nick Lother led the Wesmen with 20 points and seven assists. Mike James (18 points) and Peter Lomuro (16) also scored in double digits for Winnipeg.

Jamal Williams had 15 points and nine rebounds for the Cougars, who also had 16 points from Jeff Lukomski and 13 points and seven boards from Kris Heshka.

The two teams will meet again on Saturday night in Winnipeg.
