Despite double-doubles from both
Kris Heshka and
Jamal Williams, the University of Regina's men's basketball team lost 64-62 to the Winnipeg Wesmen on Saturday night, dropping the Cougars to second place in the Great Plains Division.
The Brandon Bobcats (10-8) are now the division leaders, as they moved ahead of the 9-9 Cougars with a win over Manitoba on Saturday.
Heshka had 20 points and 11 rebounds, while Williams came up with 12 points, 13 rebounds, and seven assists. The Cougars were shot just .315 on Saturday, going 23-for-73 from the field and hitting just one of their 16 three-pointers.
Nick Lother led Winnipeg with 24 points.
The Cougars will finish off the regular season with four home games, beginning with two next weekend against Manitoba. In a series that could decide the top spot in the division, Regina will host Brandon on Feb. 7 and 8 at the Centre for Kinesiology, Health & Sport.
