The No. 1-ranked Trinity Western Spartans recorded a 3-0 victory over the Regina Cougars on Saturday afternoon in a Canada West women's soccer game at the U of R Field.

Melissa Mobilio scored the game-winning goal and added an assist for the Spartans, while Veronika Rogina made three saves to earn the clean sheet.

Mobilio's goal came after 43 minutes of scoreless action, as she tapped in a cross from Nikki Wright just before halftime. The Spartans extended their lead to two in the 64th minute, as Alexi Foster found the ball in the midst of a wild scramble following a corner and notched her first goal of the season.

Trinity Western finished off the scoring in the 85th minute when Daniela Gerig tucked a shot under Regina keeper Michelle Anderson from 15 yards out. Mobilio was credited with an assist on the goal, which was Gerig's second of the year.

Anderson made five saves in net for the Cougars, who fall to 1-6-0 on the season.

The Spartans improve to 5-0-0 and will now travel to Winnipeg for a match against No. 8-ranked Manitoba (5-1-1) on Sunday afternoon.

The Cougars will finish off their two-game homestand with a match against UBC (1-2-2). Kickoff is scheduled for noon at the U of R Field.
