The University of Alberta scored two goals in the first five minutes and never looked back, as the Pandas scored a 6-1 victory over the Regina Cougars on Saturday afternoon in a Canada West women's soccer match at the U of R Field.

Heather Lund opened up the scoring for the Pandas (1-2-0) just seconds into the match, as she tucked a long shot just underneath the bar to put Alberta up early. Lindsay Stewart added to the lead just four minutes later, extending the Pandas' lead to two with her first goal of the season.

Amanda Black and Elise Emmott both scored for Alberta before halftime, giving the Pandas a 4-0 lead heading into the break.

The Cougars (1-2-0) got on the board at the 53-minute mark, as first-year forward Meagan Cormier's individual effort resulted in her Canada West-leading fifth goal of the season.

That would be as close as Regina would come, as Carleigh Miller (61') and Lund (64') both scored for Alberta to put the game out of reach.

Sabina Bullard made four saves for Alberta in the win, while Michelle Anderson stopped seven shots for the Cougars in the loss.

Alberta, which outshot Regina by a 26-7 margin during the contest, will travel to Winnipeg for a Sunday match against undefeated Manitoba (3-0-0).

The Cougars' homestand will continue on Sunday against Saskatchewan (0-2-1). Kickoff is scheduled for noon at the U of R Field.
