The Calgary Dinos withstood a fourth-quarter charge from the Regina Cougars and recorded a 91-74 win in Canada West men's basketball action at the Jack Simpson Gym in Calgary on Friday night.
After trailing by as many as 19 points in the third quarter, the Cougars went on a 15-2 run capped by a three-pointer by
Sterling Nostedt to cut the deficit to just five. The No. 6-ranked Dinos quickly restored the lead, though, reeling off seven consecutive points and cruising to a 17-point win.
Ross Bekkering led Calgary with 23 points, while first-year guard Jarred Ogungbemi-Jackson had 22 and a game-high six assists.
Kris Heshka had the game's lone double-double, as the fourth-year post scored 18 and led all players with 12 rebounds.
Jeff Lukomski had 15 points, and
Marek Downarowicz came off the bench to score 14.
The Cougars (8-7) will meet the Dinos again on Saturday night.
