The Victoria Vikes scored in the first six minutes of the contest and added another one before halftime as they defeated the Regina Cougars by a 2-0 score on Saturday afternoon in a Canada West women's soccer match in Victoria.
Jaclyn Sawicki scored for Victoria moments after an opportunity by Regina's
Molly Glass just minutes into the match. Kaitlyn Hunter put the Vikes up by two in the 34th minute after finishing a cross by Stephanie Davidson, and that would be all the offence that the home side would need.
Stephanie Parker shut the door for Victoria, making four saves to secure her second shutout of the season and help the Vikes improve to 3-5-3 on the season.
Michelle Anderson made 11 stops for the Cougars, while Glass led the team in attempted shots (5) and shots on net (2). Regina's record drops to 3-6-2 with the loss.
The Cougars will be back in action on Sunday afternoon against Fraser Valley in Abbotsford, B.C.
