The University of Regina's women's soccer team broke out offensively on Saturday afternoon with a 4-0 victory over Fraser Valley in a Canada West match in Abbotsford, B.C.

Tayler Firth opened the scoring in the eighth minute, one-timing a pass from Megan Florizone to give the Cougars an early lead.

Regina then got some offence from an unexpected source, as fifth-year defender Dana Renneberg scored the first goal of her CIS career from 25 yards out on a shot described by head coach Bob Maltman as “an absolute cracker.”

Renneberg's goal came in the 19th minute, and was quickly followed by another strike from Adrianna Bonutti just three minutes later.

First-year midfielder Carly Dueck also scored the first of her career for the Cougars, adding an insurance goal on a penalty kick in the 86th minute.

Fifth-year goalkeeper Michelle Anderson was stellar all game long for Regina, making 10 saves to secure her eighth career shutout.

The Cougars will travel to Victoria today and will square off against the Vikes on Sunday afternoon. The game will be broadcast live at www.canadawest.tv with kickoff scheduled for 1:00 p.m. Saskatchewan time.

NOTES: The four goals scored by the Cougars is the most ever in a University of Regina win ... Bonutti and Firth are now tied with Anderson and Leslie McLennan for fourth on the school's all-time list with four career goals.
