In one of the highest scoring games in school history, the University of Regina's men's basketball team lost 110-100 to Thompson Rivers on Saturday night in Kamloops, B.C.
Thompson Rivers led 43-39 at the half, then both teams got hot in the third quarter and simply exploded in the fourth. The WolfPack led by 10 going into the fourth after outscoring Regina by a 30-24 margin in the third, and both teams scored 37 points in the final quarter.
The Cougars cut the lead to seven midway through the fourth, but that was as close as they were able to come.
Justin King poured in 35 points for Thompson Rivers and added 11 rebounds, while Chas Kok had 22 points and Kevin Pribilsky scored 15.
Two Cougars eclipsed the 20-point barrier, including
Paul Gareau (23 points) and
Brendan Hebert, who was 4-for-6 from three-point land and had a career-high 20 points.
Regina (2-5) will have a month off before returning to the Canada West schedule at Brandon on Jan. 6 and Jan. 7.
NOTES: The teams combined for 210 points during the game, which is the seventh most in U of R history and the most in a game involving the Cougars since a 109-105 loss to Victoria back on Nov. 28, 2003.
