The University of Manitoba registered its second 2-0 win in as many days over the host Regina Cougars on Sunday afternoon in Canada West women's soccer action at the U of R Field.

Sarah Haiko scored what turned out to be the game-winning goal for Manitoba in the 22nd minute, and Paula Fast's strike in the 72nd minute gave the Bisons a two-goal cushion. Chloe Werle made six saves to secure her second shutout of the weekend.

The win improves Manitoba's record to 2-4-0, while the Cougars fall to 0-5-1 with the loss.

Carrie Nash almost opened the scoring in the 21st minute for the Bisons after she intercepted a clearing attempt well inside the box. Nash let go with a quick shot searching for the top corner, but Regina goalkeeper Stephanie Possberg stretched to make the save.

The Nash miss, however, set up Haiko's strike. Manitoba was awarded a corner kick after Possberg's save, which Nash skipped over to Fast near the top of the box. Fast's shot was heading right of the net but deflected off a Cougar defender, and Haiko corralled the rebound and beat Possberg to put the Bisons up early.

The score stayed 1-0 in favour of the Bisons until midway through the second half. Fast took advantage of a turnover deep in Cougar territory and rifled a shot to the right corner to notch her second goal of the 2011 season.

Tayler Firth had Regina's best chance of the match after sneaking behind the Manitoba back line in the 75th minute, but Werle came well out to challenge Firth and made a fine save.

Possberg ended up with three saves for the Cougars, who were outshot 13-9 by Manitoba.

Both teams will be back in action at home next weekend. The Cougars will host Trinity Western (4-1-0) on Saturday and UBC (3-1-1) on Sunday, while the Bisons will play the Thunderbirds on Saturday and host the Spartans on Sunday.
