The University of Regina's soccer team plays its final home matches of the 2012 conference schedule this weekend, as the Cougars host Mount Royal on Saturday afternoon and No. 4 Alberta on Sunday.
Both matches will kick off at noon at the U of R Field.
The Cougars are coming off a home split against West Coast schools, as they took a 2-1 decision over Fraser Valley last Saturday before being edged 1-0 by Victoria on Sunday. With a 5-3-0 record, the Cougars sit in sixth place in the Canada West standings and need just one more victory to clinch their first postseason berth since 2006.
Meagan Cormier continues to pace the U of R's offence, as the fourth-year Campbell Collegiate product scored both goals in last Saturday's victory over Fraser Valley and is tied for fifth in the conference with seven goals on the season. She is only three goals shy of Jessica Waller's school single-season record of 10 goals, which was set back in 2002.
Also ranking among the Canada West leaders is third-year keeper
Stephanie Possberg, who comes into the weekend third in the conference with an .868 save percentage. She also has three shutouts on the season and an impressive 0.83 goals-against average.
The Cougars will also honour a pair of fifth-year players on Saturday, as defenders
Kelsey Abstreiter and
Sarah Novak are playing in their final Canada West home matches this weekend. Both have been mainstays on the back line for the U of R since 2008, as Novak will play in her 60th career match on Saturday and Abstreiter will hit that milestone next weekend.

Mount Royal University Cougars (0-5-3)
New to the conference this season, Saturday's match will mark the first time that Mount Royal will face the U of R in Canada West play in any sport.
Mount Royal is winless on the season but has played several tight contests, with the team's top result coming last Sunday in a 1-1 draw with then-No. 10 UBC. Karlee Hodl's goal just before halftime answered an early UBC strike by Taryn Lim, and the Cougars were able to keep the Thunderbirds off the board in the second half to notch their third draw of the season.
Second-year midfielder Kelsey Kinzner leads Mount Royal with two goals this season, while Kelsey Markland has started all eight games at keeper for the Cougars and has a 2.43 goals-against average.
University of Alberta Pandas (5-0-3)
The lone undefeated Canada West team and, along with Cape Breton, one of just two teams without a loss in the entire CIS, Alberta will play Saskatchewan on Saturday before travelling down to Regina for Sunday's match against the U of R.
Third-year forward Kayla Michaels leads Alberta with eight goals coming into the weekend and has added a team-high four assists, while Carleigh Miller has scored four times for the Pandas. Third-year keeper Kelti Biggs has started all eight games for Alberta, leading Canada West with a .930 save percentage and ranking second in the conference with a miniscule 0.38 goals-against average.
Alberta dealt Trinity Western its first setback of the season last Saturday, as Michaels scored twice to help give the Pandas a 2-0 home victory over the Spartans.
