The University of Regina's women's soccer team battled to a 1-1 draw with Lethbridge on a windy Saturday afternoon at the University Community Stadium in Lethbridge.

University of Regina fourth-year player Meagan Cormier (pictured) and Lethbridge's Emily Felker provided the scoring in the game, which was affected by sustained westerly winds of just under 50 km/h throughout the match.

The draw is the first of the Canada West schedule for the Cougars, who move to 7-3-1 and remain in fourth place in the conference standings with 22 points.

Lethbridge (1-8-2) opened up the scoring in the ninth minute on Felker's strike. Stephanie Groten drew the assist on the goal, Felker's second of the season.

The Cougars replied almost immediately, as Cormier scored her eighth goal of the campaign with a helper from Molly Glass.

The two early goals, however, would turn out to be the only scoring in the match. The Cougars peppered the Lethbridge net with 19 shot attempts during the match, but second-year keeper Taylor Thomas made seven saves for the Pronghorns to help preserve the tie.

Rookie keeper Kacey McFee got her third start of the season for the Cougars and made two saves.

Needing a win to lock up a home playoff  match in the Canada West quarterfinals, the Cougars finish off the conference schedule on Sunday afternoon at Calgary (3-5-3). The teams will play at McMahon Stadium after snowfall in the Calgary area on Saturday morning caused deteriorating conditions at the West Varsity Soccer Pitch, the U of C's usual home field.

NOTES: Cormier is tied for fourth in Canada West with eight goals and is two back of the University of Regina's single-season record of 10, set by Jessica Waller Waller back in 2002.
