The University of Regina's men's basketball team lost 78-64 to Thompson Rivers on Friday night in a Canada West game in Kamloops, B.C.
Though the WolfPack led from wire to wire and brought a double-digit lead into the fourth quarter, the Cougars made things interesting in the final period. Back-to-back buckets by
Travis Sylvestre and a three-pointer by
Sterling Nostedt helped get the U of R to within five points just past the midway point of the fourth, Thompson Rivers responded with seven consecutive points of its own to push the lead back up to 12.
Kevin Pribilsky carried the bulk of the offensive load for Thompson Rivers, going 11-for-12 from the free throw line and ending up with a game-high 24 points. Akeem Pierre and Will Ondrik both had 12 points, while Brett Rouault had 11 as Thompson Rivers improves to 3-4.
Connor Burns had a big double-double for the Cougars, scoring 19 points and adding 13 rebounds.
Paul Gareau had 14 points, while Sylvestre came off the bench to score 10 in 16 minutes on the floor.
Brendan Hebert (pictured) had nine assists.
The Cougars move to 1-6 on the season and will make the short trip down to Kelowna to square off with UBC Okanagan (1-6) on Saturday night. Scheduled to tip off at 7 p.m. PST, the game will be webcast live at
