Michelle Clark (pictured) scored 19 points as the University of Regina's women's basketball team took a 79-65 victory over Saskatchewan on Saturday night in Saskatoon.
The No. 2-ranked Cougars led by eight after the first quarter and took control of the contest with a 21-6 run in the second quarter that helped give them an 18-point halftime advantage. The U of R pushed the lead to as much as 26 points in the second half as the team sought to atone for a season-opening hiccup which saw the Cougars fall to the No. 6-ranked Huskies in Regina on Thursday.
Clark ended up shooting 8-for-13 from the field – including 3-for-6 from three-point range – and led all players with six steals.

Lindsay Ledingham both had 18 points for the Cougars, with Read adding a game-high eight rebounds to fall a couple boards short of a double-double.
Dalyce Emmerson scored a game-high 23 points for Saskatchewan, while Kiera Lyons chipped in with 16.
After shooting just over 30% from the field in Thursday's loss, Regina was vastly improved in that category on Saturday. The Cougars shot 47.2% from the field, including 50% in a first half which saw them pile up 45 points.
The Cougars (1-1) will now prepare for a two-game series at Winnipeg next Thursday and Friday. The Wesmen (0-2) opened up their schedule with a pair of three-point road losses to Lethbridge last weekend.
