Pronghorns complete weekend sweep with 96-72 win

The Lethbridge Pronghorns completed a Canada West men's basketball weekend sweep over the Regina Cougars with a 96-72 win on Saturday night in Lethbridge.

The Cougars led by six midway through the first quarter after Gradyn Childerhose scored five unanswered points for the visitors, but Lethbridge went on a 15-3 run and had a six-point advantage going into the second quarter. The Pronghorns continued that momentum in the second, outscoring Regina by a 24-3 margin in the quarter and cruising to victory in the second half.

For the second consecutive night, five Lethbridge players hit double figures in scoring. Daryl Cooper led the way with 12 points, while Tyson McIntyre and Alex Fletcher both scored 11 and Niko Kovac and Dominyc Coward added 10 points apiece.

Vule Grujic was 5-for-10 from three-point land and led the Cougars with 20 points, while Paul Gareau had 16 and Connor Burns scored 12 points to go along with a team-high nine rebounds.

The Cougars (5-14) will finish off their 2011-12 season next Saturday at Saskatchewan.
