Box Score
Tayler Firth's strike in the 66th minute stood as the game-tying goal as the University of Regina's women's soccer team played to a 2-2 draw with Fraser Valley on Saturday night in Chilliwack, B.C.
Meagan Cormier also scored for the Cougars, while keepers
Kacey McFee and
Stephanie Possberg split the netminding duties as the U of R moves to 4-5-2 on the season.
Amanda Carruthers and Tristan Corneil scored for Fraser Valley.
Cormier opened the scoring in the 18th minute, forcing a Cascades turnover and breaking in alone on Fraser Valley keeper Kayla Klim. Cormier made no mistake, scoring her seventh of the season and the 21st of her five-season career at the U of R.
But Fraser Valley struck twice in less than seven minutes to take the lead. First it was Carruthers in the 33rd minute following a corner kick, then Corneil scored on a long blast in the 39th to give the Cascades a 2-1 advantage.
Firth's goal with just under 25 minutes left in the second half capped the scoring.
The Cougars will close out the Canada West schedule next Saturday with a home match against UNBC (1-7-2). A win over the Timberwolves will put the U of R in the postseason for the second consecutive year.
