Box Score

The University of Regina's women's soccer team was shut out by a 4-0 score by the Alberta Pandas on Saturday afternoon at Foote Field in Edmonton.

Shalla Kadima, Julia Ignacio, and Rebecca Brandt all scored in the opening 30 minutes for Alberta and Laura Kautz added a goal early in the second half to cap the scoring. Kelti Biggs made five saves to record the shutout for Alberta, which improves to 7-0-2 on the season and remains one of three unbeaten teams in Canada West.

The loss drops Regina's record to 3-4-1 on the season. The Cougars are tied with Fraser Valley for seventh in the conference standings with 10 points apiece.

Kadima opened the scoring just over a minute into the contest with third-year forward Jessie Candlish drawing the assist on the strike. The Pandas extended the lead to 2-0 after the Cougars were called for a foul inside the 18-yard box. Ignacio made no mistake on the ensuing penalty kick to notch her Canada West-leading ninth goal of the season.

It took just six minutes for Brandt to extend the lead to 3-0, which Alberta would sit on for the remainder of the half. Kautz's goal came just two minutes into the second half, essentially putting the match away for the Pandas.

Kacey McFee made four saves in net for the Cougars, who will make the short trip south to Calgary to visit Mount Royal (3-5-1) for a Sunday afternoon match. Kickoff is scheduled for noon and will be webcast at www.canadawest.tv.
