Box Score

The University of Regina's men's basketball team overcame double-digit deficits twice during the second half, but couldn't complete the comeback in a 91-84 road loss to Lethbridge on Friday night.

The Cougars trailed by 17 points heading into the fourth quarter, but completely erased the deficit with a 19-2 run capped by three-pointers on three consecutive possessions including back-to-back Darius Mole triples. The Cougars then took their first lead since the opening seconds of the game with a Brendan Hebert three-pointer with four minutes left, but that would be the U of R's final field goal of the contest as Lethbridge closed out the game on a 9-2 run to earn the win.

Brandon Brine scored 21 points and added nine rebounds for Lethbridge, which improves its record to 6-3 as the Pronghorns move into a tie with Winnipeg for third place in the Prairie Division.

Rookie guard Brandon Tull (pictured) continues his fine first season with the U of R and scored a game-high 22 points for the Cougars while leading all players with 34 minutes played. Will Tallman and Ryan Delwo both had 12 points, while Mole finished with 11 and Hebert had 10 points to go along with five assists. Jeremy Zver came off the bench to pull down a game-high 12 rebounds, seven of which came on the offensive glass.

The Cougars (2-7) will get another crack at Lethbridge on Saturday night (7:00 MST, canadawest.tv).
