Katie Polischuk (pictured) became the first Cougar ever to hit seven triples in a Canada West game as the University of Regina's women's basketball team took an 81-52 road win over Lethbridge on Friday night.
Polischuk finished 7-for-11 from three-point range and led the Cougars with a career-high 22 points, while
Nicole Clarke scored 16 and added seven rebounds,
Kehlsie Crone dished out a career-best eight assists, and
Megan Chamberlin came off the bench for her third double-double as a Cougar.
Kim Veldman scored a game-high 24 for Lethbridge, but it wasn't enough to stop the Pronghorns from falling to 3-6 on the season.
Lethbridge started out strong and led the No. 5-ranked Cougars after the opening quarter and pushed the lead to nine in the second, but the U of R took control with a big 15-0 run and never looked back. The Cougars led by seven at halftime and by 15 after three quarters, then outscored the Pronghorns by a 22-8 margin in the fourth to seal the win and improve to 7-2 on the season.
Chamberlin finished with 12 points and 10 rebounds to secure the double-double and tied Polischuk for the game high with four steals. The Cougars can pull back into a tie for second place in the Canada West standings with another win over Lethbridge on Saturday night (5:00 MST,
