Jayde McFee (pictured) scored in the 89th minute and her younger sister Kacey McFee had a six-save shutout as the University of Regina's women's soccer team took a 1-0 victory over Manitoba on Saturday afternoon in Winnipeg.

The Cougars now sport a 2-0-0 record after their season-opening road trip, as they also won 4-1 over Winnipeg on Friday.

With just a minute to go until second-half injury time, Jayde McFee forced a turnover deep in Manitoba territory and chipped it over Bisons goalkeeper Martina Arran to notch her second career game-winning goal.

The Cougars controlled possession for large portions of the game, especially in the latter stages of the first half which resulted in great scoring opportunities for Veronica Boesch and Tayler Firth. In the second half, Manitoba had some fine chances to score, none better than one off the foot of Courtney Addison in the 63rd minute which forced Kacey McFee to make a diving save to preserve the clean sheet.

The U of R directed 16 shots towards the Manitoba net as Arran finished the game with eight saves. Five of Kacey McFee's six saves were in the second half alone.

The Cougars will hit the road next weekend against Saskatchewan, which as of Saturday's matches was the only other Canada West team at 2-0-0. Next Saturday's game will have a 12:00 p.m. start at Griffiths Stadium in Saskatoon.
