Box Score

The University of Regina's men's basketball team led at halftime, but couldn't hang on late in the game and dropped an 84-71 decision at Fraser Valley on Friday night in Abbotsford, B.C.

The Cougars were within three heading into the fourth and cut the deficit down to one point after a three-pointer by Brendan Hebert and a deuce by Travis Sylvestre early in the final quarter, but that would be as close as the Cougars would come. Fraser Valley responded with six straight points to push the lead back to seven, and the Cascades held off the U of R down the stretch for the win.

Kevon Parchment was an efficient 13-for-22 from the field and hit three triples as he led Fraser Valley (12-5) with 36 points and added seven rebounds, five assists, and three steals. Jasper Moedt added a double-double with 13 points and 12 rebounds, while Klaus Figueredo scored 13.

Jeremy Zver came off the bench to lead the Cougars (12-5) with 15 points on 6-of-13 shooting from the field. Brandon Tull added 14 points, while Travis Sylvestre scored 12 and had a team-high five assists and Will Tallman pulled down nine rebounds.

The West Coast swing continues for the Cougars on Saturday night at Trinity Western (8-9) in Langley, B.C.
