The University of Regina's women's basketball team plays at home for the first time in nearly two months this Thursday and Friday as the Cougars host Thompson Rivers and UBC Okanagan at the Centre for Kinesiology, Health & Sport.

Tip-off is scheduled for 6:15 p.m. on both nights.

The Cougars had last weekend off after going 3-0 at the Frontier Conference Shootout in Las Vegas in late December, defeating Montana State-Northern, MidAmerica Nazarene, and Lewis-Clark State College to run the table at the non-conference tournament for the second consecutive year. All three opponents are currently ranked in the NAIA's top 25, including MidAmerica Nazarene which checked in at No. 5 in the most recent poll.

Making her debut in a University of Regina uniform this weekend will be Dutch guard Janine Guijt, who joins the Cougars for the second semester as Sidney Dobner is out for the season with a knee injury. Guijt, who represented Netherlands at the U18 European Championship and the U19 World Championship in 2013, was averaging 18.1 for Remy de Wit's CTO Amsterdam team before leaving to join the Cougars. Head coach Dave Taylor expects Guijt to play a key role off the bench for the Cougars, who will likely see nine players heavily used in a rotation that will also include Nicole Clarke, Kehlsie Crone, Katie Polischuk, Madi Docherty, Jennilea Coppola, Charlotte Kot, Megan Chamberlin, and Alyssia Kajati.

The Cougars enter the weekend with an 8-2 record, but are in a three-way tie with Alberta and Calgary for second place in the top-heavy Prairie Division standings and remain one game back of first-place Saskatchewan (9-1).

Thompson Rivers WolfPack (6-4)
The WolfPack won their final three games of the first half of the conference schedule to jump into fourth place in the Pacific Division standings and enter Thursday's contest looking for their first win in Regina.

With All-Canadian post Diane Schuetze and guard Jen Ju graduated from last year's team, third-year guard Taiysa Worsfeld has stepped up as Thompson Rivers' leading scorer. Worsfeld ranks fifth in Canada West with an average of 16.5 points per game, while Jorri Duxbury and Kassie Colonna also average in double figures for TRU. A 5-7 guard, Duxbury also leads the WolfPack in blocks (11), steals (29), and rebounds (71).

The Cougars hold a 9-1 advantage over TRU in the all-time series and have defeated the WolfPack nine consecutive times in a streak that dates back to November of 2005.

UBC Okanagan Heat (2-8)
The Heat come into Friday's game in sixth place in the eight-team Pacific Division with victories over Mount Royal and UNBC under their belt this season. UBC Okanagan relies on its backcourt duo of Sarah Allison and Emily Kanester, as Allison leads the team in points per game (12.7) and assists (28) and Kanester leads the team in rebounds (45) and steals (20) while also averaging over 12 points per contest.

UBC Okanagan will be visiting Regina for the first time since joining Canada West, as both of the previous meetings between the two teams were played in Kelowna. The Cougars won both of those games, winning 91-66 in November, 2011 and taking a 76-64 victory in November 2012.
